  • ALLIE & TERRI - COASTAL SWIM COACHING

Having swum together nearly every day for over a year, Terri & Allie realised that they were often called upon to provide advice and guidance to many a fellow swimmer and those who liked the idea of open water swimming. Having made the decision to become qualified as open water swim coaches they set up Coastal Swim Coaching based in the chilled Hele Bay on the outskirts of Ilfracombe in North Devon.

They both share a passion not only for swimming but for the numerous health and wellbeing benefits that cold water immersion affords those who embrace it. Plus you get to meet like minded individuals and share in the experience of becoming part of the rapidly growing open water swimming community.

Terri is very comfortable swimming longer distances at a very steady pace. Her passion for this along with a long career in teaching led her to take a Level 2 Open Water coaching qualification with the STA, which has increased her open water coaching knowledge and allowed her to gain invaluable swim coaching techniques to transfer to swimmers.

Terri founded a swimming community called the Hele Bay Merbabes in Aug 2019 which has over 1.1k members (and rising!) and is also a Mental Health Swim Ambassador for Ilfracombe.

She holds a qualification in sporting activities for Mental Health and a Swim Coach Rescuer and Risk Assessment qualification with Surf Life Saving GB.

Allie grew up in a landlocked part of Sussex so started swimming from a young age training in pools. Throughout her teenage years, she trained and swam competitively for her county. Allie has always loved the sea and swimming in open water and would find any opportunity to explore new areas. Allie’s experience and training has helped her compete in many triathlons and other swimming events.

Allie qualified as an STA level 2 open water swim coach and also gained her Swim Coach Rescuer and Risk Assessment qualification with Surf Life Saving GB. With Allie’s experience, qualifications and friendly personality, she is an excellent teacher, helping encourage others to achieve their goals and support their journey into the water. Allie cannot wait to meet you and share her passion and love for the incredibly beneficial sport.
